| Joshua moved his family from Coshocton Co., OH, to Bureau Co., IL, in 1869. Cemetery Records for La Moille twp., Bureau Co., Illinois (Lam 03): Mirtle May Norman, Dau. of Joshua and M. (Martha) Norman d. November 6, 1871, at the age of 0 yrs - 8 mos - 24 dys. Joshua apparently moved his family back to Coshocton Co., OH, for two or three years during the period 1872-78, then returned to Bureau Co., IL. Such a move was noted in the obituaries for his daughter Emma and son James. Also, the census records for son Charles, born 1874, consistently report that he was born in OH. "Drs. Cook of Mendota, and Jones of LaMoille, removed a growing tumor from Mr. Joshua Norman. The operation was performed in seven minutes. At last accounts the patient was doing as well as could be expected." (From the Bureau County Register newspaper, issued 12/26/1878, published in Bureau Co., IL) "Billy Williams has moved on the farm lately vacated by Joshua Norman." (From the Bureau County Register, issued 3/11/1880, published in Bureau Co., IL) Joshua and his family arrived in Dickinson Co., KS, on Saturday, March 13, 1880. "Joshua Norman and family, of Bureau county, Ill., arrived at their Kansas home in Dickinson County, on last Saturday. Mr. Norman brings with him a couple of car loads of good cattle and horses. He is a good practical farmer and we believe he will be pleased with his change of location. Joshua Norman is a brother to John Norman, one of our best citizens, and a good farmer near the Davis and Dickinson county line." (Reprinted from the Junction City Tribune in the Democrat newspaper, issued 3/18/1880, published in Abilene, Dickinson Co., KS) Joshua, his wife and eight children are listed on the Federal Census 1880, Buckeye Twp., Dickinson Co., KS. They were recent arrivals as son John, age four months, was born in Illinois. "Mr. David Norman and wife, of Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas county, Ohio, are visiting the families of Mr. Norman's brothers, Joshua Norman, of Buckeye, and John Norman, of Noble township. We wish them a good time, and will not be surprised if they take the Kansas fever while here." (From the Gazette newspaper, issued 10/15/1880, published in Abilene, Dickinson Co., KS) According to the Kansas Census 1885, Buckeye Twp., Dickinson Co., KS., Joshua owned 570 acres of land, 8 horses, 2 mules, 12 milk cows, 33 head other cattle, 80 hogs, 12 apple trees, 100 peach trees, 10 cherry trees, 1/2 acre vineyard, 1 dog, 1 acre walnut trees and 1/2 acre cottonwood trees. Some or all of his land was located on Section 19, T12S, R2E, Dickinson Co., KS. Son John's name does not appear on this or later census listings. The name of one child, Danil (Daniel), appears for the first time; either the census clerk failed to list him in 1880 or there are some errors in birth dates and locations. In Joshua's Obit. in Abilene Reflector (22 Mar 1906) the following was reported: * Married Catharine Ward of Coshocton, Ohio in 1853. Had 5 children, three of whom survived him in 1906.
